This class is only for students of the Certificate of Craft Advanced Jewelry Apprentice program.

During this 4 session class, the use of ETA’s Prusa printers and PrusaSlicer software in 3D printing will be explained in how it relates to printing jewelry items.  The importance of 3D printing for jewelry manufacture and jewelry tool making will be discussed. A variety of FDM filament types will be described with an emphasis on wax filament for use in lost wax casting. 

Prerequisites: Intro to 3d Printing ETA and Intro to Rhino.  Students must have a recent copy of PrusaSlicer on their computers.

There is a $20 materials fee.



Instructor Bio:
Sue McCarthy has been a BARN member for 3 years and became a Jewelry Studio steering committee member and monitor in 2121. Immediately after joining  BARN, she began using the 3d printers in Electronic & Technical Arts studio to print 3D topographic maps and various tools, she also used the lapidary equipment in the Jewelry Studio. These combined interests later expanded into using 3D printers to create jewelry and jewelry prototypes.  Her background is in geology, environmental and computer science.
