Make this fun and easy crisscross apron!  This is a great class for beginners as well as experienced sewers, and a great project for yourself or as a gift for Mother’s Day in May!  You will want to make more than one. That is almost a guarantee!

  • Option 1 – Reversible Apron: Materials to bring to class:  
  • Two pieces of light-weight 45” wide fabric measuring 1 ½ yard each.  The same amount of 54” fabric is needed to accommodate length of apron.
  • Matching or contrasting thread of your choice.  We recommend polyester thread.

PLEASE PRE-WASH AND IRON ALL OF YOUR FABRIC. 


     Option 2 – Single Layered Apron: Materials to bring to class:  

    •  One piece of 45” wide fabric measuring 1 ½ yard The same amount of 54” fabric is needed to accommodate length of apron. 
    • 2-3 packages of single fold wide bias binding or the equivalent of 7 yards of a contrasting or matching color, or a ¼ yard of a contrasting or matching fabric to make your own bias binding.
    • Matching or contrasting thread of your choice.  We recommend polyester thread. 
    • PLEASE PRE-WASH AND IRON ALL OF YOUR FABRIC. 
    • This is a simple pattern with a stitched-on pocket that is fun and rewarding to construct no matter which option you choose.  

      Skills you will learn or practice: 

    • Pattern cutting and marking
    • Sewing and turning curves
    • Applying bias binding
    • Making your own bias binding
    • Topstitching and stitched on pockets

    Skill Level: Advanced Beginner.   Please be familiar with using a sewing machine.  If you want to use a BARN sewing machine, please be sure to take Brothers sewing machine orientation workshop in our Fiber Arts Studio.

    Ages: Ages 14+ Welcome.

    Instructor Bio:  Marcia Adams-Landry has been involved in fiber since learning sewing as a young 4-H member.  She has been a BARN member for the past 6 years and currently volunteers on the Fiber Arts Studio Sewing Programming Committee.   She is an instructor for several of our sewing classes including her course on handmade table linens class, safety orientation for the Sailrite industrial sewing machine class, and introduction to the studio Brothers sewing machines.
