Jamie Arnold, a Tulalip tribal member, was taught this “X” basket by her basket weaving teacher, her Aunt Maxine.

Students will learn to weave a basket in the Coast Salish tribal tradition using red cedar bark, Northwest sweetgrass, and raffia.

Details:

  • Skill Level: Beginner
  • Bring sack lunches for each day. BARN has a refrigerator and microwave on the lower level.
  • The $150 materials fee included in the cost of the class covers all materials.
  • Registration closes July 5.

Project

The basket will measure approximately 4” (l)) x 4” (w) x 5” (h)

Class Policies

  • Ages 14 and up are welcome.

Jamie Arnold

Jamie Arnold is a Tulalip tribal member who has been weaving baskets for more than 20 years. She continually develops her techniques by attending Native American basket weaving conferences.
