In this class you will create a beveled window with stained glass accents. Bevels add beauty and transmit light in a unique way. in 5 weeks, Bainbridge glass artist Diane Bonciolini of Mesolini Glass Studio will guide you through the step-by-step process of designing with a beveled cluster focal point and the building of your window measuring approximately 20” x 20”. You will learn contemporary, innovative, and efficient methods to create this beveled art glass window; methods that she has practiced for over 40+ years of experience as a glass artists. You will be guided through design decisions, glass cutting, selecting glass, assembling, soldering, glazing and finishing your abstract or figurative piece. Be a part of this historical technique.
This class is for beginners and those wishing to brush up on skills. Students will also learn studio safety & protocol, required to use the BARN Glass studio.
There is a materials fee of $90 included in the class price that will cover glass, bevels, drafting paper, pattern film, zinc and lead, and miscellaneous other supplies. Students are encouraged to use glass from the glass studio.
Cutting tools and equipment are provided. Glass cutting experience is advised but not required.
NOTE: In order to use Open Studio time for your own projects, you must demonstrate competency in glass cutting and grinder use. This course will address those competencies.

The "olini" of Mesolini Glass Studio, with her husband Gregg Mesmer, the 'Mes', both recognized with the 2015 Island Treasure Award, moved to Bainbridge Island in 1977 and started the iconic Mesolini Glass Studio. Diane's love of glass is her passion. As a full-time glass artist she has lived and worked on Bainbridge Island since 1977. She describes glass, her medium of choice, as having a life of its own. This multifaceted medium shows itself in each of her creations: stained glass, slumped and fused glass, lamp work, or glass combined with concrete, to name a few techniques. Diane is a founding member of BARN.
