About
Class series cancelled by Sybil 3-1-2018
This is the second in a series of three garment construction courses that will move students beyond the basic sewing course. Each of the courses focus on one of the garments from our text, "Everyday Style."
Don’t worry if you have problems fitting patterns to your perfect shape! We will tailor the patterns to fit you as we develop our garments.
Each class in our series will build on skills from the previous class so by the end of our time together you will be able to design a coordinated wardrobe for yourself and construct it as well! Course 1 (Kiomi Top) is offered March 6th &7th. Course 3 (Pilvi Jacket) is offered April 10th & 11th.
Course 2 – The Owyn Pants - Many of us have issues with finding pairs of pants that fit well. In this class you will get a pattern that you can use over and over again to sew pairs of pants that fit well and flatter your figure.
In Course 2 we will learn how to:
- sew darts;
- insert side zippers;
- put in elastic with a casing and the flat felt seam finish which provides a wonderfully strong and professional finish.
Please purchase the textbook for our class, Everyday Style by Lotta Jansdotter. The book is available at Esther's Fabrics or can be ordered and purchased through Eagle Harbor Books or bought online.

In the late 70's she worked as a pattern maker for Santa Cruz Imports, had her own line of clothes and ran various fashion shows. In the 80's Jackie became the manager for Shirley Hyatt Designs in Palo Alto California while having one of her own gowns featured in a Nordstrom's trunk show. In the 90's Jackie enjoyed a season costuming at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival before moving to Washington State to teach full time.
Jackie continues her love of sewing and fashion by adding to her own wardrobe as well as designing and constructing garments on commission for private customers.
