A polar bear lifts her head and meets Amanda's gaze. What passes between them?

For more than a decade, Amanda has sought out these moments of connection: walking among penguins in Patagonia, working alongside rhinos in South Africa, learning from elephants in Thailand, meeting polar bears in the Arctic, and others.

Join us to celebrate the launch of Wild Kin: Embracing Our Animal Family, the memoir of Amanda's journey. Part adventure, part eco-philosophy, it asks what we lose when we forget our animal family, and how we might find our way back to kinship.

Come for the stories. Leave seeing your wild neighbors differently.

Music by Jess Henderson. Book sales at the event by Eagle Harbor Books.

The event is free, but please register so we know you're coming.

Amanda Mander has published numerous essays and three books. Wild Kin, her latest memoir, follows her journey from curiosity to kinship through volunteering in wild animal sanctuaries for over a decade. Her YA book, Wild Rescues, aims to educate readers about how to live in harmony with our wild neighbors through compelling rescue stories based on West Sound Wildlife Shelter’s experiences. Looking Twice: Beautiful Ugly is a book of poems and photographs co-authored with artist, Deanna Marsh, that reflects on what we consider beautiful or ugly. Amanda has four grown children and lives on Bainbridge Island with her husband and beloved dog, Luna www.writerARMander.com https://substack.com/@amandamander
