Calling all aspiring writers for children and teens. Are you interested in learning more about writing and getting books published for children and young adults? Join us for this introduction: to resources, to the children’s book industry, and to information about writing for this unique audience. This session will be followed by a Q and A period.

Jolie Stekly has worked with leading experts in the children’s publishing industry for the past 20 years as a writer, freelance editor, instructor, coach, and consultant. She is a recipient of the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators Member of the Year award. A long-time, active member of the SCBWI, she now presents the orientation for first-time attendees yearly at the summer conference in Los Angeles. She’s also a member of SCBWI’s Team Blog, and a former regional advisor in Western Washington. Jolie holds a master’s in teaching degree, and currently teaches writing classes to both pre-published and published writers of books kids and teens, including a picture book course offered by University of Washington’s Certificate in Writing Program.
