Details

• A variety of plain weave color and weave techniques will be demonstrated and displayed, then you will be guided to design, warp, and start to weave your own project.
• You'll learn how to warp and weave with 8/2 cotton on the rigid heddle loom.
• We'll also cover basic elements of project design including division of space, size of finished project, calculating materials.
• You'll have access to your BARN loom for 7 days after the class to finish weaving your towels. Or, if you have your own 24” rigid heddle loom you would like to use, please bring it along with a 10 dent reed that fits your loom. You can complete your weaving at home. 
• Bring lunch or a snack to enjoy in the common area during a break. There is a refrigerator and microwave on the lower level.

Prerequisites

• Students must know how to warp a rigid heddle loom! You should either have taken the Introduction to Rigid Heddle Loom Weaving at BARN or have successfully warped at least one of your own projects.
• If you do not yet have experience warping the rigid heddle loom, but would like to take this class, please sign up to an upcoming introduction class or contact  weaving.coordinator@bainbridgebarn.org to set up a private class.

Materials

• A $25 materials fee, included in the price of the class, covers enough 8/2 cotton to weave 2 hand towels, finished size approx. 15x25 inches (16“ loom) or 22x30 inches (24“ loom). BARN has looms of both sizes; students may choose finished size according to their preference and time constraints.
