About

Volunteer to help assemble and outfit a 4- by 8-foot tool shed for Friends of the Farms, a Bainbridge non-profit that manages publicly-owned farmland on the island and works to promote local, organic agriculture.

Starting with a pre-cut kit from Home Depot, volunteers will lay out the building footprint, construct the floor, and assemble the cedar walls and cedar-shingled roof. If time allows, the team may also outfit the shed with shelves, hooks and other details that will make it more useful for Friends of the Farms. (The model is the one shown in the picture.)

Paul Kury, the Project Lead, and Steve Eisenberg, the Project Foreman, will be at all three sessions to provide guidance and direction. For anyone who's thought about building a shed from a kit, this community service project is a great chance to learn while enjoying a beautiful setting on an island farm — with the bonus of helping Friends of the Farms do its work.
