About

This practical, hands on beginners class that will introduce you to the digital video cameras, audio equipment, editing software and production processes you need to create your own short films. You’ll practice scripting a story, planning and production, framing and lighting shots, recording location audio, adding sound effects and music, and finally editing all those assets together into a short and effective video to share on YouTube™.  Students will work in small groups, sharing the various responsibilities of direction, visuals, and audio for their teams.

The workshop will occur over three weekends with 3 hour sessions on Saturdays and Sundays. Your final work will be presented to family and friends at an informal Show ‘n Tell at the end of the course on Sunday afternoon.

Video cameras will be provided, but feel free to bring your own cameras or smart phones. You will be required to bring a 32 Gigabyte SD card for video recording.

Instructor Bio:
Laurance Price studied film and TV at Tel Aviv University and has been active in the world of video ever since. From training community television activists in Israel to distributing short films in the major European markets, setting up film festivals to running his own production company in East Africa, working on research videography at Microsoft, to producing an annual series of documentaries for the British Government, has all lead him to a place where he can finally share some of what he has learned. He is delighted to run a short and very practical course on video at our magnificent BARN.
