About

This hands-on workshop introduces you to the construction of 3D fabric bowls using sewing techniques suitable for both hand and machine sewers. Designed for individuals with basic sewing experience, the class guides you through creating a 15-inch-square bowl by constructing inner and outer layers, fusing them, and finishing the piece with a trimmed edge.

You'll work in a shared studio environment with access to sewing machines and organized workstations for material selection, cutting, ironing, and sewing.

All materials and detailed, step-by-step instructions are included, along with guidance for adapting the techniques to create bowls of varying sizes and shapes beyond the workshop. You'll be able to consult with the instructor so you can plan optional embellishments, fostering both skill development and creative exploration.

Details

  • Skill level: You should have basic sewing experience.
  • Bring a basic sewing kit with hand-sewing needles, seam ripper, small scissors, 18-inch or smaller ruler, straight pins, or clips. A fabric marking pencil is suggested, but optional.
