About

Making gifts for the holidays is a longtime maker tradition. CNCs, Laser Cutters and 3D Printers in a workshop are great tools for trying out new ideas. With precision and versatility, digital tools open up new possibilities. With a laser cutter, we’ll be making ornaments and a holiday card stand. With a CNC, we’ll be making a catchall for collecting keys and change. With 3D Printers, we’ll be making holiday messages you can share with family and friends. In this fast-paced two-day class you’ll be introduced to using CAD, CAM, CNCs, and Laser Cutters, as well as setting up 3D Printers for production projects.

You don’t need to have experience in digital woodworking to enjoy and learn as we’ll be working together as a group. If you are already using digital tools, then bring your laptop and join in as we’ll help you tweak projects on the fly. Bring in some wood scraps for design ideas. We’ll also share the class files and some patterns for everyone to take home.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How CNC routers and Laser Cutters work
  • The process of using CAD and CAM for CNC and Laser
  • An Intro to Basic CNC 3D Carving operations
  • Intro to Basic Laser Cutting operations
  • Intro to setting up 3D Printers for successful output
  • Dealing with specific issues for digital woodworking
  • Example pieces will be made in class with shared files so you can make more
  • Converting woodworking scrap into gifts
