CREATE JOURNAL + WRITE

Whenever you read about or talk to an author about what you need to do to be a better writer, the answer is always “write, write, write!” For some people, this is easier said than done. In this creative journal writing class, we will discover how to channel our creativity and writing into a journal you will construct to inspire your writing. 

In the first class, we will delve into the importance of journaling for developing as a writer and reinforce the importance of writing as a creative endeavor. You will create a journal cover that inspires your writing. Each participant will be given a notebook and the materials needed to make an individual journal. 

In the second class, we will learn some basic forms of Zentangle* art drawing. You will create a Zentangle art piece to place in your journal. We will discuss ways in which Zentangle art can be a prelude to writing and how a finished piece can inspire a writing session. We will use a Zentangle art piece to compose a “quick write” in class to share before we end. 

*Zentangle is a registered trademark and cannot be used by anyone not associated with the company.  Therefore, the art for this class is referred to as Zentangle Art which is acceptable to the owner’s of the trademark.

Class Size: Limited to 10 participants

Class Leader: Bridgett Wonder. A former teacher and parent educator, Bridgett is an active member of BARN and aspiring picture book author.
