In this hands on workshop we will transfer an image to wax and layer by layer, expose the 3D object. We will have images you can choose from but if there is something you want to carve, bring a scaled drawings of it. That way, you can use it if it’s appropriate. This class is for those who want to carve objects, animals, plants, cool shapes or just improve their carving skills for lost wax casting. You must be able to work safely with sharp objects and hot tools.

- We will talk about when and how to cast your finished piece
Details:
- This is a beginner / intermediate level class.
- $25 materials fee is in included in the class tuition.
- Please bring a bag lunch. BARN has a refrigerator to store your lunch, located on the lower level.
Students please bring if you have:
- Magnification, wax pen, carving tools, wax files, wax burs, apron, pantyhose and if you have any examples of things you have carved in the past, we’d love to see them.
- You don’t need to buy any tools, but if, and only if you want to purchase tools for the class, this is what is recommended: Wolf carving tools and a selection of round and cylinder burs, magnification, simple Wolf trimmer table and Wolf Wax High-Speed Steel Cylinder Wax Bur
Instructor: Jody Lyle is a goldsmith with over 25 years of experience designing and making jewelry. She has a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from the University of North Texas where she studied with world-renowned enamel artist Harlan Butt. She has continued here education over the years with apprenticeships, trade school training, and skill building classes. She believes in learning by doing, and continues to home her skills, practicing and acquiring new techniques from other jewelers and is continually expanding the definition of her jewelry.
