About

Enameling is not offered during regular Open Studio time due to safety requirements, so this is your opportunity. While a trained safety monitor is always on duty, this isn't a class and no formal instruction is given.

To get the most out of this enameling Open Studio, it's recommended you prepare your metal in advance so you can focus on sifting techniques and kiln or torch use.

Some metals are available for purchase (please bring cash or check). Ask the studio monitor for assistance.

Details

• A $12 enamel consumables materials fee is included in the cost of this class. 

• Please bring a towel for cleanup.

Prerequisites

• Students must have completed Intro to Enameling: Opaques.
• A skills card is required for all open studio participants.  A Jewelry Studio card is acquired by attending an introductory jewelry class such as Introduction to Jewelry Skills, Introduction to the Jeweler's Torch, Introduction to Lapidary, Introduction to Enamel, or Introduction to Beading Skills.
• Jewelers with previous experience can request a skills assessment by emailing jewelry.programming@bainbridgebarn.org 

Class Policies

• Ages 14 and up are welcome.
• Wear closed-toe shoes and natural-fiber clothing.
• Do not wear loose or synthetic-fiber clothing, dangling jewelry, scarves, or ties.
• Tie back long hair in pony tail or bun.
  
  

NOTE: If no registrants arrive by the end of the first hour, the monitor may close the studio. If
you know that you’ll arrive more than an hour after the start time, email the registrar by 11:59
pm the day before.
