Fresh Indigo Harvest and Dye
Learn to extract a magical turquoise from fresh indigo to dye silk and wool.
About
Indigo has many blues to offer. Fresh indigo lends an ethereal, magical blue to silk and wool that is closer to turquoise than the deep blue we typically see with indigo.
Details
- You will be on your feet for the duration of the class, physically harvesting the indigo plants yourself. You must be comfortable using scissors and a blender.
Materials
- A $15 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers everything you'll need for this project.
Class Policies
- Ages 14 and up are welcome. Youth under 14 must register with a parent or guardian.
Instructor
Sara connects to the world through movement, texture, color and fiber, drawing her inspiration from this natural and wild world we live in. Knitting has been her constant companion and gateway into fiber arts. She is an aspiring hat maker, weaver, dyer and sewist, working to find comfort in the beginners mind set, drawn to share her learnings with others.
