About

BARN member: $302

Friday, June 3 & Saturday, June 11 from 10 am to 5 pm

Materials fee: $74 payable in class

In this two-session course, Michael Dupille will briefly review the concepts and methods of Beginning Fritography™. Then, he will explore some new techniques and methods that will bring your work to a whole new level of fun and sophistication. Want mayo and mustard on that? He will show you his process of making a "frit sandwich" and all the amazing things you can do with that process.

The focus will be on creating unusual shapes, surface treatments, and firing schedules and cover mural-making techniques. You will also be using different frit sizes for amazing effects with single and multiple firings. Discussions of color theory, imagery, and individual assessments are part of the course. You also get a dynamite slide show!

Here’s an opportunity to spend some quality time with one of the glass fusing originals.

Instructor: Michael Dupille was part of the glass blowing program at Central Washington University in the early 70’s. Since the late 1980's he has worked extensively with glass, having developed and refined a technique for "painting with glass" that uses crushed glass (frit) in combination with kiln-fired methods. He refers to this process as fritography. Michael pioneered many kiln-forming processes, especially in the area of mold-making and kiln-casting.
