Class canceled by studio 1/13/23-CR
This class has prerequisites. Please see the description below before registering.
Do you want to improve your jewelry fabrication skills? This class is designed to advance attendees' fabrication skills and speed. It is an opportunity to learn, design, practice your skills and ask questions. The teacher will be there to help guide you and problem solve.
We will provide a collection of items that are to be used to make a piece of jewelry.
For example: pieces of 22 gauge round wire, 10 gauge square or round wire, a piece of 24 gauge sheet, a small piece of wood or stone, and a length of tubing and maybe some patterned wire.
You will be asked to design something ahead of time so during class, you can start fabricating quickly. It needs to be something you can finish in about 5 hours.
A week before the class, you will be emailed a list of the materials we will provide you, so you will have plenty of time for designing what you will make. We want you to use most if not all of what is in the kit, plus any items you want to add to make your design complete. It should be a fun class that will exercise your brain and jewelry making skills.
Due to the heavier gauge metals we are providing, we will be using the acetylene torches at least part of the time, so you will need to have had some experience with a larger torch than the Smith Little torch. You will need to be able to solder unaided.
Skills we will be using: sawing, soldering, filing, dimensioning/milling wire, and many more.
Supplies Needed:
- Design idea
- Any items you want to bring to complete your design that are not in the provided kit
- Mask
- Apron
