About

**This workshop will be live streamed via Zoom.**

This class is intended for those with a basic working knowledge of Fusion 360. It is the first in a series of topics we plan to offer that dive a bit deeper than the basics. Parametric Modeling is a powerful paradigm that allows you to modify your model without edits. Examples include changing the length, width, height, thickness, and diameter of model elements or the entire model.

Instructor, Mike Schrempp will show you where to find parameters, how to write equations using them, how to get rid of ones you no longer want, assigning parameters within sketches, functions, and he’ll answer that nagging question: "why is my name/equation still red?" Students will use their new knowledge to make Allen wrench handles. If you like your handle, you may want to visit one of our Virtual Open Studios and ask how you might 3D-print one.

Details:

  • This class will be taught via the Zoom video conferencing program. For a great video on how to use Zoom, watch this tutorial.
  • A link will be sent to the email address you registered with. Please watch for this email.
  • Prerequisite: Please ensure you already have Fusion 360 on your computer. If you have questions, please email the studio lead.
  • In gratitude to our members for their continued support during the closures, BARN is offering all classes for free to BARN members through December 2020.  Members are still responsible for paying materials and mailing fees, where applicable. If a class is full, please add your name to the wait list in case a space opens up or we are able to offer another class. Check our calendar frequently as more classes are being added each week!

Instructor Bio:

MIke Schrempp is enjoying retirement after spending 39 years in the design and development of computers. He’s done product development, mechanical part design, engineering management, and architected servers used in big data centers at Amazon and Microsoft. Now he enjoys making things -- from wood, plastic, metal, food, and Python code -- and showing others some of the tricks he’s learned along the way.
