Pattern Bar technique is yet another possibility that brings unique design elements to your glass practice. It is best described as a stacked multicolored glass bar that when sliced, arranged & fired can create stunning patterns. Sometimes referred to as a 'segment slab' it is composed of sheet glass strips that are tack-fused together, cut into parts, and fired within a containment system until the glass flows and forms an internal pattern.

Session 1 of this project-based lesson you will learn to create pattern bars that will then be kiln fired.

In Session 2 you will use the studio's wet saw to cut your fired bars into cross-sectional pieces and arrange them within a containment system. However you arrange them, your outcome will be a fascinating.

In Session 3 you will cold work your finished piece readying it for fire polishing.  The result will be a finished disc for serving or who knows! Where you take it after that is up to you!

A Materials Fee of $50 will be added to the class cost when you register.

Instructor-Diane Bonciolini:  The "olini" of Mesolini Glass Studio, Diane's love of glass is her passion.   As a full-time glass artist who has lived and worked on Bainbridge Island since 1977, she grows and changes with every project. She describes glass, her medium of choice, as having a life of its own.  This multifaceted medium shows itself in each of her creations:  stained glass, slumped and fused glass, lamp work, or glass combined with concrete.
