About

Bring your creativity — and an item from home to transform into something uniquely yours! You'll have the opportunity to mosaic everyday objects, giving new life to items that might otherwise be discarded. From picture frames and trays to small furniture pieces, vases, and more, turn worn or overlooked objects into stunning, functional art.

Come prepared with your own project in mind and glass to use, or purchase glass and project forms, such as pendants. You could bring your own rock, for example.

Details

  • Skill level: Some experience with mosaic is required.
  • What to bring: Any small to medium item you’d like to enhance with mosaics. Great options include wooden boxes, mirrors, terra cotta pots, or even lamp bases. Upcycling thrifted or well-loved items is encouraged! If you don’t have an item, don’t worry as there will be materials available to experiment with.
  • What’s provided: Some materials will be available to purchase. Scrap and repurposed materials will be available to inspire eco-friendly creativity.

Prerequisites

You must have completed one mosaic class.

Class Policies

  • You must be registered (no drop-ins)
  • Ages 14 and up are welcome.
  • Long pants and closed-toe shoes must be worn at all times in the studio.
Instructor
Barbara Henderson

Barbara is a mosaicist with a passion for helping others express themselves through the art of mosaics. She discovered art a little later in life than lots of other people, having been distracted by corporate life, ladder climbing, and the nonsense idea that she wasn’t creative. Now her favorite thing is to watch a student realize their unique ability to produce something personal and meaningful, and to develop their own artistic vision. Her favorite saying is that “perfection can be purchased at the Dollar Store. Art and beauty are found in the unique and flawed.” She serves on a variety of boards and committees and lives in Gig Harbor with her husband and far too many dogs and chickens.
