About

Class canceled. In response to updated guidance from the CDC and the Washington State Department of Health, BARN will continue to be closed through the end of April. 3/23 SK

**This class has prerequisites, please see below.

In this class you’ll cast bronze into your mold created from a pattern of your own making. You’ll work toward making reliable molds with Petrobond sand. With your help the instructor will pour the bronze into your mold, and then you’ll clean up the resulting bronze casting.

Students must wear natural fiber clothing with long-legged pants, tight fitting long sleeves, closed toed shoes (natural fiber or leather), and have long hair tied back. Safety equipment will be provided but feel free to bring your own eye and ear protection. This class is offered in conjunction with Alchemy Industrial Arts (AIA) at their facility.

Two more advanced classes will be available: Finishing a Bronze Casting, and Advanced Casing where you’ll actually be pouring the metal into your own patterned mold.

Details:

  • Prerequisites: Introduction to Bronze Casting class and Pattern Making for the Foundry class, or comparable experience, is required.
  • Participants must wear natural fiber clothing, long pants, long sleeves, closed-toe shoes (natural fiber or leather). No stretch fabrics, no hoodie ties, or dangling jewelry, bracelets that can get caught in machinery. Please tie long hair back.
  • BARN reserves the right to cancel this class in the case of low enrollment and will notify registrants of this decision. A full refund will be given.
