About

PMC is made up of fine metal particles, an organic binder, and water. Working with PMC is similar to playing with PlayDoh as it can be rolled, shaped, textured, molded, and carved to your imagination's delight. Pieces are fired in a kiln, which burns off the binder and melts the particles together into a solid metal finished work of art.

Gain the confidence, with this class, to work with more expensive alloys and explore the almost infinite creative options available through this medium. Come play with clay and revisit a childhood pleasure!

Details

  • This is a beginner/all levels class.
  • A $25 materials fee is included in the cost of the class.

Details

  • Each student will receive 50 grams of PMC and the use of a studio PMC tool kit for two days of exploration. A wide variety of templates, molds, textures, etc., will be available for experimenting in the various techniques.
  • Students should bring a sense of adventure, a creative spirit and reading glasses if needed!

Project

Following a brief description of the properties and versatility of metal clay, students will spend the first session practicing a variety of techniques to create a number of pieces. Techniques include texturing, molding and stenciling. Pieces will be kiln fired overnight.

The second session will focus on finishing techniques and further exploration of the possibilities of this medium.

All pieces will be designed and executed by the students with instructor support.
