Learn the basics of turning wood on a lathe in this group intro class, which will focus on bowl turning.

Completing this class will qualify you for Coached Turning Time, when you will have a lathe for your exclusive use.

This class will cover wood selection, tool types, sharpening, and lathe adjustment and accessories, including different types of chucks.

This is a hands-on class, where each student will have time at the lathe. But these will be practice cuts, not ones focused on creating a finished project.  All materials and tools will be supplied.

No experience is necessary.

INSTRUCTOR: Lee Stollar has been turning wood for about 15 years. His large bowls, often made from trees that grew on Bainbridge, have been featured in fund-raising auctions at IslandWood, where he volunteers, and are sold at the Bainbridge Arts & Crafts gallery. He has also participated in the Bainbridge Studio Tours. participated in the Bainbridge Studio Tours.
