About

In this culminating segment of  BARN's Intro to Woodworking series, you will build a small, Shaker-style table suitable as a lamp stand or night stand that incorporates some of your own design elements.

You will learn to take a project through all of the steps from initial idea through finished project, including:

  • developing a design, including details that you select, such as width, depth, height and whether to taper the legs.
  • creating a cut list.
  • fabricating parts (using tools you learned in Parts 1 and 2 of the Intro series).
  • assembly and glue-up.
  • finishing.

If the seven 3-hour class sessions are not enough for you to finish your project, you may need to do additional work during the woodshop's 30 hours a week of open studio time. Open studio time is free for BARN members and $10 for each six-hour session for non-members.

Details:

  • There is a materials fee of $40, which will cover maple needed for your table. This fee will be collected when you register and pay online. If you pay by check, please add that to the class fee.
  • Open to students who have taken Intro to Woodworking Parts 1 and  2 or who have the instructor's permission. If you want to arrange that, please email using this form.
