About

This technical workshop is required for you to work safely and independently in the studio's coldworking room. The goal is to understand best practices and purposes for the tile saw, belt sander, and lap wheel, specifically. Coldworking refers to the many techniques used to alter or decorate glass after the cooling process, such as grinding, polishing, cutting, engraving, etching, etc.

You'll use each tool with guided supervision, and gain confidence to create professionally finished glass pieces. Use of the coldworking equipment always requires supervision from a studio monitor as well as completion of this training.

Details

  • Some glass class experience is suggested.
  • Safety glasses, masks, ear protection, and waterproof aprons are provided.

Details

  • You're welcome to bring your own glass pieces for this training, if desired. Otherwise, glass bottles will be provided.
  • A $10 materials fee, included in the cost of this class, covers all you'll need.

Class Policies

  • Ages 18 and up are welcome.
  • Closed-toe shoes and long pants are always required in the Glass Studio.
  • Waterproof shoes are recommended in the coldworking room.
Instructor
