About

Silver soldering, also known as hard soldering or silver brazing, is achieved by flowing
melted filler metal into the joint of two or more parts with capillary action. Silver solders
are comprised of a wide array of alloys of copper, zinc, and silver with melting points
above 840°F (about 450°C), but below the melting point of the base metal.

Silver soldering is a versatile process often used in joining dissimilar metals where increased
strength, corrosion resistance, or when high temperatures are involved. Typical
applications include refrigeration, musical instruments, jewelry, and making boilers for
industrial or hobby use.

Note: This class is not oriented toward jewelry applications, although the knowledge
gained could be helpful.
