About

The Novice Sweater by PetiteKnit is perfectly designed for the beginning knitter who's ready to dive into the world of hand knitting sweaters!

The first class will introduce you to Ravelry, an online community and website for fiber artists including knitters, and how to use this incredible tool on your knitting journey. We'll go over the pattern together, measure each other to find your "magic numbers" to determine what size you'd like to knit, talk about yarn choices and options, needle size, why you should swatch, and how to modify your tools to accommodate the perfect sweater.

The second class meeting will cover evaluating your gauge swatch and cast on together, troubleshooting, and beginning the increases. You'll learn how to increase and decrease stitches, the magic loop technique, how to finish and block your amazing sweater, and everything in between.

Details

  • You must feel confident knitting and purling. We won't be going over the basic stitches in class.
  • You'll have knitting homework after each session, but if you aren’t where you need to be, don’t worry! We'll be with you every step of the way.

Details

  • A $12 materials fee, included in the price of the class, covers the pattern and some notions.
  • After the first class, you'll need to purchase yarn and two sets of knitting needles.

Class Policies

Ages 14 and up are welcome.
