About

Japchae and Jumeokbap are staples of Korean home cooking. Japchae is a savory-sweet stir-fry made with chewy sweet potato noodles and vegetables. Jumeokbap are fun and flavorful rice balls that often are filled or topped with simple seasonings or ingredients.

You'll begin with an overview of common Korean pantry staples, followed by step-by-step guidance on how to cook and season dangmyeon (glass noodles), julienne vegetables for optimal flavor and texture, and balance the flavors of soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and sugar to create Japchae. To make Jumeokbap, you'll use freshly steamed rice to form hand-rolled rice balls with a variety of optional fillings and seasonings, including furikake, seaweed, sesame oil, tuna, or kimchi.

BARN’s kitchen facility regularly uses ingredients on the FDA’s major allergens list. This class uses eggs, fish, wheat, soybeans, and sesame.
