About

Class canceled per Mike S. 9/14/22 SK

This class has prerequisites. Please see below.

LaserLab is ETA's hands-on Laser class where you'll learn some new
techniques for using the Lasers in ETA by making something real.

We'll make something different in each class and practice some
LightBurn and Laser skills. Each project will give students options
for customizing the design to make it their own. This is a great way
to get some supervised practice with both the lasers and LightBurn.

This Month's project: Make a custom cribbage board!

Select one of several cribbage board designs already created or create your own shape (some Fusion 360 experience helpful). Then add your own artwork. Artwork can be laser engraving, or inlay.

Make the parts and glue them up. All designs include a storage space for the pegs and larger boards have a space for a deck of cards.

In this class we'll learn more about modifying designs using groups in LightBurn, explore inlays, and see how designs from Fusion360 are brought into LightBurn.

Note: If your artwork requires a lot of laser time, you may need to complete it after class during an open studio time.

Class materials provided: Plywood, cribbage pegs, magnets for latch, and glue.

Prerequisite: Laser 101: Intro to Laser Cutter Operations. Please login to your BARN account and click on "My event registrations" to ensure you have completed the required prerequisites before you register for this class.

Instructor:

Mike Schrempp is enjoying retirement after spending 39 years in the design and development of computers.  He’s done product development, mechanical part design, engineering management, and architected servers used in big data centers at Amazon and Microsoft.  Now he enjoys making things -- from wood, plastic, metal, food, and Python code -- and showing others some of the tricks he’s learned along the way.
