About

**This workshop will be live streamed via Zoom.**

Cropping is one of the best, and easiest, ways to improve your photos. Determining the goal of the photo, and highlighting the parts of the photo that help achieve that goal while removing distracting elements, creates stronger and more impactful images.

In this class, we'll discuss various cropping guidelines, like the Rule of Thirds and the Golden Ratio, along with popular aspect ratios (if you don't know what those terms mean, you should definitely take this class!) We'll also discuss cropping before you take your photo, using your zoom lens (or your feet), and the location you take the photo from. We'll be using Lightroom and Preview, but the concepts you learn can be applied using any tool. This will be a highly interactive class, and the instructor will use images submitted by the participants to demonstrate the various techniques.

Instructor Bio:

Marc Shor feels amazingly lucky to be alive during this photography revolution. Trained in 35mm and 4x5 film cameras, he worked at Microsoft when digital cameras were first coming out, and started working with a pre-release Photoshop 1.0. He has worked with various iterations of software and hardware photography tools, and is constantly amazed at what is possible now, and what will be possible in the near future. He works primarily on outdoor and landscape photography, along with finding abstract shapes and colors in the natural world. He has studied with Bruce Barnbaum, had several local one-man shows, and, as a professional web developer, is not afraid of the technical aspects of the tools. He's the guy who actually reads the manuals!
