About
Learn the art of relief printing in this simple beginner workshop. You'll use battleship gray linoleum as your block and create a one-color design to be printed onto cards. You'll also learn how to embellish the cards with decorative paper and collage to add color and more festive elements.
You will learn:
- How to create an image appropriate for block printing.
- Safe carving techniques.
- How to ink your block.
- Proper set up of the studio’s etching press.
- How to print using the press.
- How to register/align your cards so your image prints where you want it to.
- Collage and embellishment techniques.
- A brief history of relief printmaking.
- Studio cleanup procedures.
We’ll end with a show-and-tell of everyone’s work. You'll leave with the block you carved and the skills to print additional cards in the future.
