Learn how to make a tap holder, a wrench designed to clamp onto the square end of thread-cutting taps used to cut internal threads in most any metal or plastic.

This is a two-session class will provide experience on both the metal lathe and vertical mill. To begin, you’ll be guided by experienced instructors in reading design drawings with dimensions and tolerances. The machining operations you’ll learn include basic metal turning and milling, internal and external thread cutting, knurling, chamfering, and finishing.

After completing this class, you’ll not only have a useful tool, but you'll also have the experience to take on additional projects during Machine Shop Open Studios.

Class Policies

• Ages 14 and up are welcome.
• You must wear shoes or boots with closed toes and heels.
• Tie back long hair.
• Avoid loose-fitting clothing and jewelry, and roll up sleeves.
