About

This class has been postponed until sometime in the Fall.

Make a hardwood knife block customized to house your specific knives as you hone your woodworking skills in this beginner-level class.

You will be able to choose vertical or horizontal configurations, the number and size of slots, and the type of wood used from a selection of domestic and exotic lumber  that the instructor will bring. This class is a good opportunity to practice 3D thinking as you visualize the cuts and assembly steps.

You will learn to work safely as you use the table saw to make rip and dado cuts, the jointer to plane square sides, the chop saw to make miter cuts, the belt sander to smooth the base and the router table to chamfer or round over edges.

Details:

  • Open to beginners ages 14+.
  • In addition to the class fee, a materials fee of $29 to cover wood and shop supplies will be collected when you register and pay online.
  • Like other introductory classes at BARN, this class is designed to help you learn to use tools safely and independently. No experience is necessary, but before the first session, please review the safety videos for the tools that will be used in this class. The videos may be found at this link.

Instructor: Joshua Haza has been building furniture for his home and doing home renovations for a few decades now.  He also likes to build physics equipment for his high school physics classes.

2 Additional class sessions were removed so that the postponement didn't show up a lot on the calendar.//7-31/tt
