About

BARN member: $45
Non-member: $54

Wednesday, July 6 from 6 pm to 9 pm

Materials fee: $10 payable in class

Want to crack a crab or tenderize a piece of meat? Tap your carving tool or chisel? Knock things into place or apart? Or give the perfect present to a law-school student dreaming of becoming a judge? Make a mallet from hard maple on the wood lathe and you'll have the perfect tool or gift.
This class is open to beginners but it's also a good intermediate project for people who have a little lathe experience but want to learn more because there are two parts to turn — the head and the handle — and you need to size the diameter of the handle to fit precisely in the head.

No experience is necessary.

Instructor: Bruce Claiborne began turning in earnest in 2008 after completing the 40-hour Craft Supply Basic Woodturning course under professional turner Kirk DeHeer. Bruce volunteers regularly at the Bainbridge High School Woods I and II classes to help students with their turning skills and projects. He is an active member of the Olympic Peninsula Chapter of the American Association of Woodturners.
