About

This class has prerequisites, please see below

This is the class you want to take for your first time at a metal-cutting lathe. Beginning with a hexagonal aluminum rod you will gain experience making a bolt on our Hardinge lathe. You will  learn the basic functions of the lathe, including facing, turning, threading, parting and chamfering.

This class is suitable both as a beginning class and for those who want additional experience.

You will not only get a chance to gain confidence in using our shop tools, but have a lovely bolt that spins freely into the nut you’ll create in the Make A Nut class, an introduction to the mill.
