About

In this class, we combine natural dyeing with vintage, earth-friendly fabrics and hand embellishment to create a one-of-a-kind set of harvest table linens.  Students will design, dye, and embellish a table runner of handwoven hemp (or hemp-cotton) as well as four coordinating napkins of lighter weight cotton. The fabrics and color palette will be earthy and rich to celebrate the harvest and to warm the holiday table.

Our activities include using natural dye extracts and raw materials to dye the base, accent colors, and even the decorative threads for stitching our pieces. For dyeing, we will have an indigo vat and immersion dyepots available for the students.

We will be using a selection of vintage handwoven hemp fabrics and handwoven indigenous cotton to create our sets of bespoke harvest linens. The price of all these materials is included in the class price. Additional materials from Botanical Colors' stash will also be available for purchase.
