About

Back by popular demand, we again have the good fortune to have a master paper marbling artist in our community, and now he's going to be teaching paper marbling techniques at the BARN! Please join us in welcoming Len Eisenhood, a master paper marbler, in an exciting and productive workshop.

The history of marbled arts dates back to the 1500's, when Middle-Eastern artisans established classical designs as background for calligraphy or as borders of pages. In the 17th and 18th centuries the art migrated to Europe, where new marbling designs, unique to each country, were developed.

In this hands-on workshop, you will become familiar with paper marbling's scaffolding process: paper preparation; mixing and applying paints; combing and over-marbling. You will have a chance to explore the art of paper marbling, and try several different techniques.

Each student will create marbled designs on a collection of six papers that include: Rives cotton rag, tyvek, deli wrap and watercolor papers. Your finished papers can provide inspiration for book making, collage and/or painting.

Details:

  • There will be a $30 supply fee (included in class price).
  • This class can only accommodate 6 students.  We will start a waiting list when we have 6 students. We advise that you register early for this class as it is sure to fill fast.
  • Feel free to bring a bag lunch. BARN has a refrigerator to store your lunch in.

Instructor Bio:
Len Eisenhood is an educator and artist and is currently showing his marbled papers and collaged paintings at Flowering Around in Winslow.
