About

Explore design, tools, and techniques as you explore the world of paper creations!

Day 1: You'll be provided with examples and techniques to explore color, pattern, and texture using paint and other media. We'll test out different tools and methods for construction and mark making in order to transform plain papers into pieces of art. Your painted papers will be incorporated as you begin sewing constructions of multiples. Embellishment ensues! Feedback will be given.

Day 2: We'll look at examples of sculptures and books created using mixed media techniques. We'll have a paper potluck and trade session with our fellow workshop artists where you'll be encouraged to donate portions of your papers for group trade. Papers will be folded using such methods as free fold, pop-up, and accordion style, to create structures for your paper sculpture adventures. You'll then delve deeper into your series work with cutting, piercing, sewing, embossing, punching, and embellishing. Mobile and installment considerations will be discussed and demonstrated. It's a day for you to play, revise, edit!
