In this workshop, Kim Van Someren will teach participants a number of different image transfer methods for printmaking. Kim will be covering a wide range of techniques, such as paper lithography, reverse monotype, and acrylic medium transfer, to name just a few. All of these methods can be used on paper, wood and fabric, and all of them can be done with and without the use of an etching press.

Details:

  • This workshop is geared to the beginning and advanced printmaker
  • Your participation in this workshop qualifies as one of the prerequisites for working on your own in the BARN Print Studio. 
  • Feel free to bring a sack lunch and snacks; you can store and reheat food in the kitchenette.
  • A Materials Fee of $25 will be added to the class cost when you register which includes your first large sheet of print paper.
  • Additional print paper is available in class for purchase at $5/sheet.

About the Instructor

Kim Van Someren holds a MFA in Printmaking from the University of Washington. She is currently the Instructional Technician in Printmaking, Fibers, Painting, Drawing and IVA at the University of Washington. She is also an instructor in Etching at Pratt Fine Arts Center and the Kirkland Arts Center.

Kim has exhibited locally and nationally. Her work is included in several collections including the New York Public Library, the University of Iowa, the University of Washington and Yale University’s Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. She is represented locally by Davidson Galleries.
