About

Come to one or both of the December Wednesdays with Stencils classes, but each is a single-day class, so please register for each one separately.

A stencil can be used as a shaped plate and also as a resist.  By layering with shapes and colors, the artist can create depth and reveal surprises in the finished print.  In this class we will make stencils and use them to create layers.

Details:

  • Some printmaking experience helpful but not required, i.e., ink mixing and cleanup, used the press before.
  • The materials fee of $15, included in the price of the class, covers stencils, ink, and student grade printing paper.
  • Professional grade paper is available for purchase for $5/sheet.
  • Feel free to bring a meal or snacks. Food is allowed in the common area adjacent to the studio classroom, and there is a kitchen in which to store and reheat.

Instructor:

Martha Makosky has been a printmaker for 15 years.  She finds the most fun in learning new techniques and combining them in different ways, collecting and layering materials in response to the emerging image.  The ink flows, the time goes, and who knows how the print was made.  See more of Martha's work at www.marthamakosky.com.
