In this class, you'll use Battleship Linoleum as a block and learn to create a multi-color design by “reducing” the printable area for each color. This one-block method is both economical and creatively challenging. You'll learn how to create an image appropriate for block printing, learn safe carving techniques, and then print your block by hand or using the press. 

This ten-hour workshop is a great introduction to the principles of printmaking, and all prints and carved blocks can be taken home at the end of class! 
 

Details

  • Experience level: Beginner to intermediate.
  • Bring a sack lunch for a 45-minute lunch break. There is a refrigerator and microwave on the lower level.
  • You're encouraged to bring design ideas and sketches with you to class.

Materials

A $20 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers all the materials needed for this project, including ink, paper, and Battleshop Linoleum.

Class Policies

Ages 14 and up are welcome.
Instructor
Dana Seeger

Dana Harris Seeger was born in San Francisco, California and split her childhood between California and Indiana. She pursued her passion in high school and college and received her BA in Painting from Anderson University in 2004 and MFA in Printmaking from San Jose State University in 2011. She is a member of the California Society of Printmakers and Verksted Gallery in Poulsbo, WA. In 2014 Dana co-created an art studio and school in San Jose, California called the School of Visual Philosophy. Her work in printmaking and painting helps her connect real to imagined memories and her life experiences to her family heritage. She teaches and exhibits her work internationally and currently lives in Poulsbo, Washington with her husband (a sculptor), daughter and twin sons Cheers!
