About

**This workshop will be live streamed via Zoom.**

How clearly can you see your own work? In this class, you’ll learn how a professional developmental editor evaluates the “big picture” effectiveness of a novel—including plot, characterization, setting, pacing, and craft—and how to apply that same perspective to your own work. We’ll explore specific questions you can ask as you’re re-reading your work, exercises to help you see your work from a fresh perspective, common issues that trip up writers, and a few tips and tricks to help you tackle revisions. This is also a valuable class for anyone in a critique group who wants to provide clearer feedback to their writing partners.

Attendees will…

  • Be challenged to consider their work from a fresh, outsider perspective.
  • Gain a checklist of impartial questions to help them evaluate specific aspects of their work in progress.
  • Understand the process of developmental editing.
  • Learn tools that will help you as beta readers and critique partners.
