Let’s get our hands busy while sculpting wool. It’s almost like working with clay but magically different. Learn how we can use wool structurally to create vessels or animal masks. The properties of wool allow us to shape and form the piece while at the same time add embellishments and surface design. You will create whimsical and/or functional art.

There is a materials fee of $45 (included in the tuition price).  The instructor will provide materials for the workshop including wool, fabric, etc.

Participants Should Bring:

  • A bucket
  • A waterproof apron
  • 2-3 old towels.
  • Bring a bag lunch. We have a refrigerator for people to store their lunches and drinks!

Skill Level: This is a intermediate level class, understanding basic felting techniques is a requirement of this class. This is a physical process, bordering on strenuous, but anyone can do it if they pace themselves. The course is suitable for attentive youth through elderly artist.

Ages: Ages 14+ welcome.

Instructor Bio: Donna Lark states "I create Nuno  Felted clothing inspired by the features of the natural world that I am attracted to on a daily basis.  I love light, reflections, and colors that accompany the change of seasons.  My passion comes from an old family tradition of garment making.  My love of the outdoors led me to pursue degrees in Environmental Education (B.S.) and Landscape Architecture (MLA) from the University of Michigan.   Landscape Architecture is, at its core, a design process that encourages a fluid and intuitive relationship between the built environment and the natural, dynamic elements that envelope it.  At its best, a good design enhances the best qualities of both nature and structure.  In my clothing designs there is a flow of color, form, texture and structure that is not unlike the movement in a garden.  I use a similar skill set that I do in designing a garden.  My goal is to enhance the qualities of the structure of the human body."
