About

Seattle Print Arts invites BARN members and SPA members to a free demonstration by Wendy Orville, Pam Galvani, and Lynda Harwood Swenson at BARN.  Demos will run from 2 pm - 4 pm, with tours of BARN's facility available before and after.  Refreshments will be served.

If you are familiar with Wendy Orville's skillful monotypes, you know they capture qualities of water, earth, and sky with expressive grace.  The images are the product of an incredible amount of practice and experimentation, and Wendy will give us a glimpse of the work that goes into them.  Wendy just had a successful show at Davidson Galleries in April, and we are thrilled to share the BARN print studio with her for this event.

Pam Galvani's background includes studies in history and graphic design, and she has been a calligrapher for the past 40 years.  She brings her exquisite sense of gestural marks to her printmaking practice in a unique meld of these two long-standing disciplines.  Pam's art has been shown nationally and locally, and she is currently represented by the Island Gallery on Bainbridge Island.  She will show us some of her process with layering images and colors.

Lynda Harwood Swenson uses cyanotype photograms along with traditional printmaking techniques in her works on paper to explore ideas and imagery. Lynda is represented by Shift Gallery in Seattle.  In her demo, she will present her cyanotype method.

Seattle Print Arts is an association of artists, arts professionals and collectors who have an avid interest in the expanding field of print arts and an appreciation of the print media.  SPA community is made up of a wide range of traditional and non-traditional print artists and print enthusiasts who are dedicated to learning, community building, and knowledge sharing.

SPA's mission is to foster intellectual and artistic dialogue, serve as a resource for news in the field of printmaking, forge links between artists, and serve as a base for a variety of activities that focus on the print arts.
