Do you want to sew but don’t know where to start? Make a simple project to understand BARN’s sewing machine functionality in practice and get certified to use the sewing machines on your own.

We'll walk you through a simple first-time project and cover key skills like cutting, seam allowances, and basic terminology. You'll pin, press, measure, cut, trim, and possibly even rip out a seam or two. Made for the first-time sewist and meant to inspire you to start your own projects!

Details

  • The project may change depending on the day or the instructor.
  • Once you're certified on BARN sewing machines, you can advance your skills, in studio, with your own desired project.
  • Feel free to bring a pattern or fabric to share with the instructor for a quick discussion by the class.

Class Policies

  • Ages 14 and up are welcome.

Danielle has been a quilter for 25 years and is a former board member of the Austin Modern Quilt Guild. She finds joy in vivid colors and loves to sew curved quilt blocks. She hopes to inspire new quilters here at BARN.
