About

Learn three ways to install a zipper into a garment —  a traditional lapped zipper, a fly front zipper (for pants), and an invisible zipper. See which tools and notions make the job easier. Learn simple tips for getting them in right the first time. Make samples in class and take the fear out of inserting zippers.

Details

  • Bring a sewing machine to use in class, or reserve a BARN machine when you register (see Prerequisites).
  • Bring a regular zipper foot, an invisible zipper foot (one specifically for your machine or a generic one), basic sewing supplies including dark and light thread, pins, hand stitching needle, seam gauge or six-inch ruler, marking pen, pencil or chalk marker, 1/2-inch Scotch Tape and double-stick tape such as Dritz Sewing & Craft Tape or Wonder Tape.
  • A $10 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers a kit of pre-cut fabric pieces you'll receive in class.

Prerequisites

Fiber Sewing Machine Certification (if using a BARN sewing machine).
