About

This class is all about using the camera in your smart-phone to photograph objects in metal or glass. Get more information on:

  • How-to capture natural light, augment natural light with additional lighting, and fill cards.
  • How-to tips on minimizing shadows on metal gemstones and glass. 
  • How-to use the photo editing software on your phones.

The instructor will set up a sample “photo shoot” for several items, and show how adjustments can be made to achieve the final photo. Students will get a chance to take photos followed by discussion of ways to resolve difficulties.


  • This class is located in BARN's Great Room on the upper floor.
  • BARN is practicing safety measures for the health and well-being of all participants, in accordance with state and CDC guidelines. Overall BARN safety policies are here.

Instructor Bio:

Dinah Satterwhite is an active artist living on Bainbridge Island, Washington. She manages the regional Studio Tour, and coaches artists. She is a professional photographer and specializes in photographing artists’ work. Her work is displayed in art galleries and stores.
