Soft Pastel: Into the Wild
Learn mixing and layer techniques sketching from photographs.
In this fun and comprehensive class in soft pastels, you'll be sketching from photographs provided by the instructor, learning to apply soft pastel color using mixing and layering techniques. Photo choices will be of landscapes, birds, flowers, or deer. Pastels offer pure, luminous color and a process that is tactile without the messiness or cleanup.

- We'll meet downstairs in the Drawing & Painting Studio.
Materials
- A $10 materials fee, included in the price of the class, covers pastels, paper, and fixative spray used during the class.
Class Policies
- Ages 14 and up are welcome.
Instructor
Sher Swaim received her BFA in painting from the University of Illinois and did post-baccalaureate work at the University of Florida. Before locating to Port Ludlow, Sher owned and operated Sher’s Art Gallery and for 33 years taught classes in drawing, pastels, painting and ceramics for all ages.
