You'll make a two-stone pendant, designed to highlight the most common and trickiest soldering set-ups. In fact, this fast-paced, intensive workshop will present you with the most common and often trickiest soldering set-ups that you’ll encounter in your jewelry practice. This project will give you an opportunity to reevaluate your soldering habits, and learn tips and tricks that will help you successfully make more complex pieces.  

Details

• The cost of materials is not included in the registration fee. You'll buy those on the first day of class. Please see the Materials section below.
• Experience level: Intermediate. You must have experience bezel-setting cabochons, be proficient in soldering, and be competent in all basic jewelry-making processes, including measuring, drilling, sawing, and filing. You can contact the studio if you need to discuss the experience and skills necessary.
• We'll take a one-hour lunch break, if you want to bring food or snacks. BARN has a refrigerator and microwave on the lower level. There are no restaurants close by.

Materials

• The instructor will bring kits, which include all the materials needed, for you to purchase on the first day of class. 
  • The kit cost will be approximately $140 – $200, depending on stones chosen and metal prices. Since the precious-metals market is volatile, the kit price is subject to change.
  • Bring a credit card or check with you for onsite kit purchase.
• You should bring an apron, towels for drying metal and hands, a pen, a notebook, and an Ultra Fine-Point Sharpie or other pen that writes on metal.

Class Policies

• Ages 14 and up are welcome.
• Wear closed-toe shoes and natural-fiber clothing.
• Do not wear loose or synthetic-fiber clothing, scarves, or ties.
• Do not wear loose or dangling jewelry, such as necklaces and bracelets.
• Tie back beards. Tie back long hair in a bun.
• You can bring safety glasses and magnifying glasses (or wear ones available in the studio).
